Application of gypsum plaster

Mixing Applying Spreading and Leveling Floating Smoothing

Application of gypsum plaster

Either Machine applied using MP75 or hand applied using Goldband or Rotband.

Treatment of plaster background.

Any normal plaster background such as masonry, concrete, light-concrete, is suitable. The Plaster background should be exa- mined and checked in accordance with Knauf's instructions and recommenda- tions. (See separate leaflet). Clean the plaster background remov- ing any dirt or loose material. Remove any rough unevenness. Knauf "Beto- kontakt" must be applied to smooth concrete surfaces. Pretreat highly absorbant backgrounds with Knauf "Primer".

Application of Knauf projection Plaster MP75

Spraying MP 75 should be sprayed on to the wall thinly - starting with maximum water setting on the plastering machine - working from top to bottom.

Application of Knauf-Goldband or Rotband

Mixing Sprinkle one sack (40 kg) of Knauf- Goldband/Rotband into approx. 28 I of clean water and use a stirrer to form a lump-free paste. Use no further additives. Then apply plaster to back- ground with trowel.

Further application of projection Plaster MP 75, Goldband and Rotband

Spreading and leveling
  • Spread with h-section feather edge and level plaster.

Floating

  • Float the whole surface with a sponge rubber float and level out any uneven- ness.

Smoothing

  • When the plaster surface is dry smooth down with float, smooth a second time if necessary.

Treatment of surface prior to painting, papering or tiling.

The plaster must be dry, firm and dust- free. The moisture content should not exceed 1 %. Before painting or wallpapering the surface should be primed with a suit- able primer e.g. Knauf Solvent Deep Primer. Surfaces to be tiled should be left rough to provide a key, do not float and smooth.

Tiles laid by the thin bed method. Minimum plaster thickness when tiling 10 mm.

Prime the entire surface with a synthetic resin solution (e. g. Knauf Deep Primer). Affix tiles with either, Knauf Building and Tile Adhesive (a cement-based thin bed mortar), or Knauf Tile Adhesive (a resin-based dispersion adhesive). Do not joint until the adhesive is dry.
